King Arthur Flour Home Baking Contest Rules and Regulations –2014 Edition

King Arthur Flour, founded in 1790, is the oldest flour company in the United States. King Arthur Flour is one of America’s best-selling flours, known by avid bakers for its consistent baking performance and lack of chemical additives. King Arthur Flour can be found in stores across all 50 states.

  1. The 2014 competition is open to any amateur home baker 18 years of age and older, who is a resident of the United States.  Contestants may enter more than one category, but may win first place only one time.
  2. All recipes must contain at least one cup of any type of King Arthur Flour; found in supermarkets in all 50 states or online at kingarthurflour.com
  3. Recipes to the Grand Finale at the 2014 show must be submitted no later than October 30th, 2014  by email (info@americasbakingandsweetsshow.com) or fax (877) 709-5130 with full name, address and phone number.  All recipes must be the original creation of the entrant and if it is a revision of a published recipe it must be referenced as such and must demonstrate where it was revised.  It must list all ingredients and quantities plus clear preparation instructions.
  4. Recipes will be prepared at America's Baking and Sweets Show test kitchens in Chicago, Illinois.
  5. A panel of judges chosen by America’s Baking and Sweets Show will select the top three recipes from each category.
  6. Expert chefs for The Home Baking Recipe Competition will prepare the top three (3) recipes for each category.  Contestants cannot bake their own recipes for the competition.  Each recipe should be consistent in quality and result, regardless of baker.  Each category contestant will be provided with 2 complimentary passes to the show on the day of their competition regardless of how many categories they’ve entered.  A further 2 tickets per contestant will be distributed for each other day they’ve entered further competitions.  The competitions are set for the following days (the times will be announced later)
  7. The Top 3 recipes for each category will be judged on Taste, Texture, and Creativity by a panel of Judges at the Show.  One winner will be selected for each category.  All judges' decisions are FINAL. 

  8. Entrant unconditionally grants America’s Baking and Sweets Show and King Arthur Flour all rights, title, interest, and claim to his/her recipe and grants those acting under their authority the right to use the recipe in whole or in part, for any advertising or promotional purposes whatsoever in any and all types of media.  The entrant’s name will be included along with the recipe whenever it is used.
  9. One Winner from each category will receive:  $500 in Prizes.

ADDITIONAL DAILY HERALD CONTEST RULES


No purchase necessary. One valid entry per contestant.

You must be 13 years of age or older at time of entry to be eligible for this contest. This contest is void where prohibited by law.

Winners will be notified by email. If a winner is unreachable after seven (7) days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected. If The Daily Herald cannot find an eligible winner for the prize, that prize will not be awarded.

Automated voting of any kind is not allowed. Detection of said automated voting will lead to votes being voided.

Only one registered account per voter. If multiple accounts are detected for a single voter, they will be disabled and votes disqualified.

The Daily Herald reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value.

The Daily Herald reserves the right to restrict the local winners to only persons whose primary residence is within a 60 mile radius of the affiliate's' office.

Employees of The Daily Herald, its respective parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising sponsors and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible.

Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.

Entrants further grant to The Daily Herald the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest.

The Daily Herald reserves the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information on contestants obtained through the contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.

The Contest and all of the related pages, contents and code are copyright, UPICKEM, and/or The Daily Herald. Copying or unauthorized use of any copyrighted materials, trademarks or any other intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.

Each winner, by acceptance of the prize, agrees to release all Sponsors, and their parent and subsidiary companies, their officers, directors, employees, agents, shareholders, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, and advertising agencies from all liability, claims, or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of the prize.

UPICKEM and The Daily Herald are not responsible for Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, electrical outages, natural disasters or acts of man or God.

All results posted are unofficial until winners respond to e-mail notification.

Each winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes and will be required to complete an IRS form W-9. Sponsor reserves the right to withhold prizes until completed form W-9 is received.

This contest is not intended for gambling. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.

The Daily Herald reserves the right to change the rules at any time.
